FAQ

Underfloor Heating - Underfloor heating insulation

Underfloor heating loops are installed on foil backed foam insulation board. To ensure liquid screeds do not have a detrimental effect on the insulation boards we recommend the fitting of a membrane between the pipework and the foil face of the insulation boards.

Foil backed foam insulation board such as Kingspan or Celotex should be used above the main building slab and between joists for the underfloor heating pipework to sit on, we currently recommend a minimum of 60mm thickness on ground floor with 25mm for the upper floors.

Polystyrene insulation boards do not have sufficient insulation properties and should not be used as part of an underfloor heating system.

Edging strip should be installed around the perimeter of the rooms to allow for expansion of the screeed.
