Schools and public buildings
Develop heating and hot-water strategies around occupancy, safeguarding, site constraints and the delivery programme.
Thermal Earth can develop site-specific heating, cooling and heat-recovery strategies for schools, apartment buildings, factories, offices and data centres—then shape the design and delivery route around the operation.
One accountable team for a complex energy brief.
Commercial heating and cooling projects need more than a single product. The heat source, distribution, controls, plant space, operating profile and installation programme all need to work together.
Thermal Earth can support the route from early feasibility and system design through installation, commissioning and ongoing service.
Explore system designDevelop heating and hot-water strategies around occupancy, safeguarding, site constraints and the delivery programme.
Assess central plant, communal and shared-loop approaches alongside distribution, resident control and the building brief.
Review heating, cooling, temperatures, process loads, operating hours and the energy sources available around the site.
Coordinate heating, cooling, controls and comfort around occupancy, available plant space and the building's operating pattern.
Assess server loads, resilience requirements, temperatures and how rejected heat could be used elsewhere on the site.
Explore data centresBring otherwise-wasted heat and a useful demand together where their temperature and operating profiles align.
Explore heat recoveryA flexible route where outdoor-unit location, acoustics, temperatures and distribution design can be resolved.
Explore air sourceUse boreholes or horizontal collectors where the site, ground strategy and programme support the approach.
Explore ground sourceConsider available water sources, permissions and temperatures as part of a site-specific engineered design.
Explore water sourceBring cooling and useful heat demands together where the building or process profile makes recovery practical.
Explore heat recoveryTechnology follows the brief. The appropriate route depends on loads, temperatures, operating hours, space, electrical capacity and the wider project constraints.
Review loads, temperatures, constraints, programme and the decisions already made.
Coordinate heat source, distribution, controls, plant and project information.
Plan and deliver the agreed works around the site and project programme.
Provide handover, servicing and the agreed ongoing support after commissioning.
Our system designers, borehole drilling crews and installation teams work together around the agreed project brief.
Develop the heat source, distribution, controls and plant strategy together.
Plan borehole or collector works alongside the site and programme.
Complete handover and provide ongoing service options. Lifetime support available where selected.
From apartment-scale communal heating to open-river cooling and the mine-water scheme developed with the Mining Remediation Authority, each system starts with the site and its loads.
Wales's first commercial mine-water heat scheme was developed by the Mining Remediation Authority in partnership with Thermal Earth, with Innovate UK funding. It supplies heating and hot water to our industrial unit and offices.

Prequalification documents are available on request. Tell us what your buyer or funder needs so we can agree the evidence pack for your procurement.
Our credentials include MCS certified installer status, TrustMark, NICEIC/NAPIT, RECC and Heat Pump Association membership. Ask for current certification and membership evidence with your enquiry.

| Route | Where and what | Current status |
|---|---|---|
| Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) | England: grants for eligible public-sector building decarbonisation. | Closed to new applications. Existing Phase 4 awards are being delivered, with project deadlines set by the grant offer and no later than 31 March 2028. |
| Green Heat Network Fund (GHNF) | England and Wales: capital support for new low-carbon heat networks and expansion or decarbonisation of existing networks. | The published Round 12 deadline was 25 September 2026. Check the delivery partner for the next application window before planning a bid. |
| Ynni Cymru | Wales: smart local energy systems for eligible public, community and third-sector organisations and SMEs. Heat pumps can form part of an integrated project. | The 2026–27 capital grant round is closed to applications. Awarded projects must be completed by 31 March 2027. |
| Re:fit Cymru / RE:FIT 5 | Public-sector energy performance contracting, including Welsh projects. | A procurement and delivery route with contractual performance guarantees, rather than a grant. Ask Local Partnerships about the current framework and an appropriate financing route; this does not imply Thermal Earth is an appointed framework supplier. |
| Wales Funding Programme / Invest to Save | Wales: finance for eligible public-sector energy efficiency, low-carbon heating and renewable energy projects. | Applications are accepted. Salix lists 6 November 2026 as the deadline for 2026–27 applications on the published terms; later applications may be assessed on different terms. |
