The installer contacted Thermal Earth after the heat pump they originally specified for use on their property was declined permission to connect to the electricity network. The initial heat pump was rejected based on the grounds that its starting current was too high for the grid. This jeopardised the whole scheme as the cost from the DNO was £100K+ to upgrade the supply and the client had already drilled 14 x 100m boreholes.
MasterTherm's Inverter Brushless DC (BLDC) compressor with ZERO starting current was the perfect solution to this problem. Following submission of the paperwork to the district network operator (DNO) permission was granted without the cost of upgrading the electricity supply.
The new system compromises of three MasterTherm AquaMaster Inverter 22kW heat pumps - totalling 66kW output. The ground source heat pump is coupled with a 1,000 litre hot water cylinder and a 1,000 litre buffer tank which provides heated water to a low temperature underfloor heating system and services an indoor swimming pool.
