FAQ

Biomass Boiler - Do they produce any smoke or other emissions?

A well designed/installed and properly operated biomass boiler which is burning the biomass fuel specified by the manufacturer should not produce any smoke during normal operation. During ignition and burn out you may see some smoke as the boiler is heating up and cooling down. Black smoke may be produced if the fuel is too wet or not seasoned adequately for the boiler. During normal operation you should only be able to see a rising hear shimmer. Smoke from any boiler is essentially showing incomplete combustion, these gases would be waste energy escaping from the chimney!
