FAQ

Heat Pumps - How Efficient are Water Source Heat Pumps?

A water source heat pump is the most efficient type of heat pump as water is an excellent thermal conductor. They are more efficient than ground source heat pumps which typically achieve efficiencies of 400% compared to 90% for a new gas boiler. This means that with a heat pump for every 1kW of electricity used you'll get 4kW of heat energy. If a property is located near a usable water source we typically always recommend a water source heat pump as not only are they the most efficient, they also require less groundwork than a ground source heat pump which will significantly reduce installation costs.
